Power Trip

For those who haven't figure out the method to the madness of the far right wing yet, it's POWER!!! Power over our lives. Power over our choices. Power over our options. It doesn't matter whether we are talking about something supposedly as out there as equal marriage rights for gays or something the every day folks get into like raising the minimum wage or taxing the corporate elites.

The bottom line: THEY WANT TO TAKE AWAY AS MUCH POWER AS POSSIBLE FROM US!!!!

THEY WANT TO WEAKEN US!!

THEY WANT TO CONTROL US!!

The nomination of Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court is a perfect example of this. We knew this was coming. Bush is weak and floundering. We picks Miers, a lap puppy, sorority chik, Bush fan club roadie wannabe, who no self-respecting hard right-winger would get behind and now he decides for the FLAMING KING OF THE RIGHT WING. You know it's not good when you have the nickname: Scalito. Okay, maybe it's good for some nutcase rightwinger who has their rights and doesn't give a shit about anyone else.

Here's one little tidbit on Alito:

In the early 1990s, Alito was the lone dissenter in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, a case in which the 3rd Circuit struck down a Pennsylvania law that included a provision requiring women seeking abortions to notify their spouses.

So, basically this guy believes men should control women's bodies. That women must defer to their husbands (IF they have husbands; dude, not all women are made THAT way) for decisions to be made about their bodies. Not taking into consideration the fact that if a woman had a good relationship with her husband, she would go to him ANYWAY and discuss her decision with him. Laws shouldn't FORCE anyone to go anyone else to make decisions that personally affect their lives!!!

What kind of world is this when we can't even control the destiny of our own bodies!

Think Terry Schiavo! We could all end up in a place where a court tells us...you don't have the right to make this decision.

These people with their POWER TRIPS and THIRST FOR CONTROL and DOMINATION scare the FUCK out of me!!!

IT'S TIME TO TAKE THEM DOWN!! IT'S TIME TO BE FEARLESS AND UNAFRAID!! THEY WANT CONTROL OF THE BENCH BECAUSE THEY ARE LOSING CONTROL OF US!

It would be so easy to delete a comment from a chicken like "anonymous" (how appropriate!), but I like to leave those notorious belief systems behind and compare them to our Mr. lovin' it. He's just as anonymous, but tries to come across more pleasant.

The end result is the same. A big LOL over having control and POWER (I get images in my mind of Kate Winslet in Titanic joking about the men being "masters of the universe"!)!!

The irony is that all great systems of power, domination, control, and hate eventually fall. The old saying "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" will be SOOOO sweet to us. You guys sure have puffed up and beat your chests, but it'll bite you in the ass.

So...LOL

Boy, you sure are hanging on to this (supposedly) "winning elections" thing. I guess you have to do something when The Fuhrer's approval rating is tanking into the 30% range!!

But, that's what I mean, you guys are SOOO pushing for dominionist fundie activist judges because America is catching wind of your stinky crap! The '06 elections are coming soon so it's only a matter of time.

I like democracy when it's not intended to end the freakin' world!

"Conservative" judges, (at least those who've been on the court for the last decade), are much more prone to activism than "liberal" judges. They have ruled more often to overrule congress and to strike down legislation as unconstitutional than their "liberal" counter parts.

So much for "role of the legislature" and the "ballot box".

"Strict Constructivism" is a pipe dream and even Scalia, Thomas and Rhenquist don't argue in defense of "original intent" since they each have their own ideas about the original intent of the framers.

There are 9 "black-robed philosopher kings" but I've found that most people who recite the "activist court" mantra aren't interested in facts.

I think I understand where the fundigelical conservative idea of being a judge comes from.

Their authority was limited by the law alone, and in doubtful cases they were
directed to consult the divine King through the priest by Urim and Thummim
(Num. 27:21).

Well, that fits Bush's nominees to a "T."

However, the entry also goes on to say:

Their authority extended only over those tribes by whom they had
been elected or acknowledged. There was no income attached to their office, and
they bore no external marks of dignity.

So, fine, these fundamentalist activist judges selected by the "King" George and his minions wouldn't have any authority over me or my people only over those who choose him to the position. Plus, they won't get paid extravagantly for their elitist political position.

How about them apples?
